A Season of Gratitude and Joy at The Woodlands at Furman

The holiday season brings a special kind of magic to Greenville. The air feels crisp but never too cold, lights twinkle across downtown and everywhere you look, people are smiling. At The Woodlands at Furman, that spirit feels even brighter. The holiday season reminds us what community truly means.

So Much to Enjoy Nearby

One of the best things about living at The Woodlands is how easy it is to get out and experience Greenville’s holiday cheer. Every year, the Poinsettia Christmas Parade kicks off the season downtown. This year’s parade is on December 6, 2025 at 6 pm. Floats, music and laughter fill Main Street as families and friends line the sidewalks to watch.

For those who love to shop or simply take in the sights, the Greenville Holiday Market is filled with handmade gifts and sweet treats. It’s also just a short walk to Ice on Main, where you can lace up your skates or watch the skaters glide under the sparkling lights while holiday music plays in the background.

Right next door, Furman University adds its own magic to the season with holiday concerts and recitals. Many of us enjoy walking over for the Furman Jazz Combos Winter Recital or the Symphony Concerto Competition. There’s something so special about watching the talented students perform, knowing their energy and creativity are part of what makes this area so vibrant.

When a quieter day calls, Greenville’s museums offer a cozy and remarkable experience. The Greenville County Museum of Art and the Upcountry History Museum are perfect for a peaceful afternoon in town. For those who prefer to spend the day outdoors, a stroll through Falls Park or along the Swamp Rabbit Trail offers a refreshing way to enjoy nature’s beauty during the season.

Giving Back Together

The holidays always bring out the best in people and that’s certainly true here. What began in 2013 as a small effort to support neighbors has since grown into a community-wide mission. Through The Woodlands Foundation, that spirit of generosity continues to uplift residents, team members and the wider Greenville community.

Over the years, gifts of every size have made a lasting impact. Through dedicated funds like the Good Neighbor Fund, Staff Hardship Fund and Educational Missions Fund, the Foundation ensures care and opportunity reach everyone. Other initiatives, such as the Trailhead Capital Fund and Employee Appreciation Fund, enhance shared spaces and celebrate the people who make this place feel like home.

This year’s Legacy of Love Valentine’s Day Gala raised more than $120,000 in support of vital initiatives, strengthening the programs and people who shape daily life here. Read this blog to see exactly how much was raised for each fund and the difference those gifts are already making.

Every effort, big or small, adds to the warmth that makes The Woodlands such a special place to live. To learn more about the specific funds and how to donate, read this blog.
