Put on your hard hats and pop the champagne: The Woodlands is gearing up for a major expansion that will significantly enhance the living experience for future residents.

Starting in spring 2025, we are embarking on this exciting project to meet the growing demand for independent living spaces. Rick Brackett, President and CEO of The Woodlands, shares, “This expansion is crucial to meeting the growing demand at The Woodlands. With our five-year waitlist, this expansion is great news for retirees in Greenville, offering more living options in a community known for its quality, service and hospitality. Future waitlist residents will have first choice of locations and availability, ensuring they get the best fit when this expansion opens its doors.”

What’s Coming to The Woodlands?

This expansion will bring a host of exciting new features to The Woodlands, starting with The Falls, a four-story apartment building. The new building will house 22 spacious apartments ranging from approximately 1,400 to over 1,900 square feet, offering more room for comfortable living. These new apartments will include two bedrooms and two bathrooms, with some including a den. They will also feature screened porches, gas fireplaces, underground parking, enhanced acoustic systems and custom tile showers with essential safety features. Additional features include crown molding, hardwood floors (carpet in bedrooms), quartz countertops, overhead lighting, ceiling fans, double sinks and ample storage. All of these exciting new features will be connected to our existing building via a bridge on the second floor, providing a seamless experience for residents.

Additionally, we’re adding approximately 6,000 square feet of new amenities. This includes a state-of-the-art library, sales center, board room and offices. For dining, the Evergreen dining room will undergo renovations, reflecting The Woodlands’ commitment to quality. A new 25-seat bistro will provide a more intimate setting, while upgraded kitchen facilities will ensure exceptional service and dining experiences for our growing community.

Another highlight of the expansion is the addition of a dedicated 3,600-square-foot amenity space on the second floor of the new building, including a social game lounge, creative studio and a versatile event space—perfect for active and engaged residents.

The expansion project is being designed by THW Design from Atlanta and constructed by Greenville-based Creative Builders.

This expansion project will unfold in several phases, with full completion anticipated in January 2027 and move-ins beginning soon after. The added independent living apartments, new amenities and enhanced dining facilities will not only improve the overall quality of life for our current residents but also create new opportunities for those on our waitlist.
